THINGS TO SEE AND DO IN CHARLESTON!

Walk around Charleston!

Walking is the best way to discover Charleston! Wandering around south of Broad Street, you'll see our iconic colonial architecture, window boxes, and cobblestone streets. Some of our favorite routes, streets, and vistas include:1. The Battery and White Point Gardens: Loulou's favorite walking loop is around the Battery and back down Broad Street. You'll walk along the harbor, see Rainbow Row, and can take an extra lap around Colonial Lake!2. S. Adgers Wharf / Concord Street heading toward the Pineapple Fountain. You'll see some cobblestone streets, moss-laden oak trees, and a great view of the harbor.3. Tradd Street (Where Loulou's Granddad grew up!)

RESTAURANTS

Charleston is a destination for food lovers! Here are some of our favorites, but you can't go wrong.1. 167 Raw: Some say the best restaurant in town! They don't take reservations, so our recommendation is to put your name down then shop on King Street or head up to Bar 167 (around the corner) while you wait!2. Melfi's: Loulou's favorite restaurant. Classic Italian and great vibes.3. Leon's Fried Chicken and Oysters: Self explanatory!4. Sorelle: Classic and modern Italian with beautiful, lowcountry-inspired interiors. We recommend booking ahead if you want to give this one a try!5. Husk: Southern farm-to-table. This place can lean touristy at times, but the food is great!

Coffee

1. Harken Cafe: Sister-cafe to our favorite uptown bakery (The Harbinger), you know this place is great just by the smell.2. Second State Coffee: Amazing lavender latte, if that's your thing!3. The Daily: A little bit of everything, all good.

Shopping

Most of the great shopping in downtown Charleston is along King Street, between Broad and Spring. While King has become a bit more commercial over the years, here are some of our favorites:1. Croghan's Jewel Box: 100-year old, family-run jewelry shop owned by one of our dearest friends! Loulou's engagement ring came from here (and so did her mom's!).2. Goldbug: A Croghan's brand, now with its own store! These pieces represent the Lowcountry and are great gifts/souvenirs.3. Ibu Movement: A boutique of globally-sourced handmade clothes and accessories. It's on the second floor, so don't miss it!4. Preservation Society: They have a great collection of all locally-made goods! They sell a wide selection of Brackish Ties (feathered bowties) if you're looking to spruce up your wedding outfit.

Drinking

A local pastime.1. The Blind Tiger: A night-before-Thanksgiving classic. Head all the way back to the patio and meet some locals. Ideal for post-wedding toasts!2. Shem Creek: There are several bars along the creek that are half-on-land, half-on-dock. An easy choice is Saltwater Cowboys.3. Felix: Wyatt had one of his favorite cocktails ever here. If only he could remember what it was...

History/Culture

And plenty of it!1. International African American Museum2. USS Yorktown (decommissioned aircraft carrier)3. (tour service?)4. St. Michael's Church at the "Four Corners of Law" Note: If you are interested in seeing Fort Sumter (site of the first Civil War battle), there isn't really much to see on the island itself. We recommend looking at it from the tip of the Battery instead.
